More Proof That Being Super Is Relative

About a week ago, just after dinner, I got that nagging feeling that there was something I was supposed to be doing but I couldn't remember what it was. Then it came to me, my daughter's half birthday party at school. Yes, I said half birthday, her real birthday falls during summer vacation, so the teachers let her celebrate her half birthday so she can still have a school party.

Me: "Sweetie, when are you supposed to bring treats for you party?"
Her: "Um, the 23rd."
Me: "You mean tomorrow?"
Her: "Oh, yeah, I guess so! We don't have to make the brownies I asked you for!"

It being 6:30pm already, and there being scout meetings ahead to get to, I wasn't going to push her on the brownie thing. I shoved the Guilt Demon inside me back into it's dark little hole and we loaded up and hit the IGA bakery section.

We picked out 30 lovely cupcakes that were way overpriced and had loads of sugar frosting in pink and white, she was thrilled. As we are unloading the car at home she turns to me and says " Thanks Mom, this really means a lot to me! The kids will love the cupcakes and I get to have my party!"

Woohoo! Chalk up another one in the win column for the Not Super Moms everywhere! I gave my daughter the validation she needed without sacrificing my sanity! And it only cost me 3 times as much as homemade!

The only thing that went wrong was, Dad ate the one chocolate cupcake that was leftover (as opposed to one of the 2 white cupcakes that were also leftover). Apparently my daughter was too busy passing out cupcakes at school to eat hers there. When she went to eat it later at home, well, let's just say Dad had some explaining to do!
